Jay Anaya, Intern

Jay is a graduate student in Social Work at Salem State University currently completing her practicum at S.A.L.T. Wellness Group. Her background in social work research and advocacy has shaped a strong interest in understanding not only what clients are experiencing individually,
but also how family, community, and larger systems may influence their lives. Jay is especially passionate about working with adolescents and adults, including neurodivergent individuals and those navigating disability, anxiety, trauma, identity, life transitions, and challenging life experiences. She approaches clients from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered perspective, with an emphasis on collaborative problem solving. Jay strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. She hopes to help clients identify their strengths, build practical skills, and feel more confident advocating
for themselves and creating meaningful change in their lives.
Jay’s broader professional and research interests include youth mental health, juvenile justice, disability, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA+ experiences, and the impact of social and systemic inequities on mental health and well-being.
